All risks House Insurance UK
If you own an extremely expensive property or you would like to insure your home fully against all possible risks, then the all risks house insurance or high value house insurance is what you are looking for. Many insurance companies now offer specific policies for expensive homes, in most cases, those exceeding £250,000 in value (only the home and not land) and with contents value of more than £75,000. These policies are pretty much the cream of the crop and provide a wide range of extra services that standard policies do not provide, but it comes at a price. In most cases, insurance companies providing this type of coverage are not going to be your high-street insurers, but specialised insurance companies that provide such coverage on a case-by-base basis.
The all risks house insurance or high value house insurance will include some of the following coverages as standard:
- agreed value - this means that some of your possessions, are insured for a specific amount and you will receive this pre-determined amount in the even of a loss. This is particularly important for high-value items like antique furniture or jewellery.
- Replacement cost cash option - most house insurance policies will have a 'new for old' policy, which means that they will replace the exact same item with a new item (preferably the same model etc.). However, under an all risks house insurance, you do not necessarily have to replace the item, you can simply receive cash for the lost or damaged item and it is up to you to decide if you want to replace it or buy something else.
- Alternative accommodation - many policies will offer alternative accommodation for you and your family and even your pets (dogs, cats, horses etc.) if your home become unliveable, due to damage from natural disaster or accident, such as fire.
- Coverage for second home - second homes, even those overseas, can also be covered under this type of policy.
- Guests' personal effects - not only are your own personal possessions covered, but also those of any guests staying at your home that they have lost or damaged their possessions.
These are just some of the most common coverages available and most insurers will offer many many more options to add to your policy, such as travel insurance, coverage for children at university and even Christmas gift insurance.
